Title: Aftermath
Rating: G
Pairing: Maedhros/Fingon
Genre: Drabble

He was sleeping now. The draught would hold the pain at bay for a few hours. Not that he ever complained, but Maedhros could see the torment in his eyes and he suffered. The wounds of a lover were far more injurious than wounds to oneself.

His lashes lay dark against his too pale cheeks, brow furrowed in determination in his troubled slumber. So beautiful. So valiant. And all his, for as long as the fates granted.

Maedhros stroked his silken hair. Fingon opened those brilliant blue eyes and fixed him with a loving smile.

“You look tired,” he said.

I love this! What are friends for if not to help one out when one is feeling unwell. Thank you.

A minor diversion but every little bit helps. I hope you're feeling better soon. *hugs*

Oh, that was so nice! And what a great thing for cheering up Oshun!

Thanks! I know it sucks to be sick this time of year and she always cheers me up so I wanted to return the favor. :-)

That was absolutely gorgeous. And I'm afraid I can relate to this completely. What a lovely present for Oshun!

Thanks so much! Oshun said she wanted some hurt/comfort and this is the first thing that came to mind. I know you can relate to this probably better than anyone. I really appreciate your comments. *hugs*

What a lovely inversion! Maedhros comforting Fingon rather than the other way around. Nice.

Thank you, Himring. I didn't think about the role reversal when I wrote it, I was just trying to stay close to Oshun's take on the characters. I'm glad you liked it.

This is lovely, Marius. I can't think of any better way of cheering some-one up.

Thanks, Sian. I'm glad you like it. I'm always good for a drabble. :-)

Thanks so much. I'm glad their love came through in such few words.

The wounds of a lover were far more injurious than wounds to oneself.

That, coming from Maedhros, means much. Interesting that you chose to reverse their roles. Lovely scene, shows their intimacy so well...

Thank you, Russa. I didn't think of it as a role reversal when I wrote it, I just figured Maedhros had been comforted so much it was Fingon's turn. :-)

I didn't mean for real, but just in the way that it's traditionally Maedhros being take care of by Fingon.

(Followed the trail from Oshun's place!)

This is lovely. You have packed a lot of poignancy and a feeling of real depth into your one hundred words. *g*

Thank you! Drabbles can be difficult sometimes but this one just kind of wrote itself. I appreciate your comments.

Hat's off to you for writing a form that I consider THE most difficult out there. At least, a form done right, and this one is.

Thanks so much, Pande, I'm glad you like this one. Drabbles are always a fun challenge. I can't write a novel but when I try to write a drabble I can't seem to shut up. :-)
