Signal Boost - New OEAM Site Grand Opening

Come check out the new and improved Of Elves and Men (OEAM) site, now with 100% more "upload your own crap so we don't have to".

But is it multifandom you ask. Yes, the new improved OEAM fills all your slash needs in a multitude of fandoms.

But what if I only write LOTR stories? You'll find what you're looking for at the new OEAM. We have a large selection of LOTR stories to match every taste, as long as your taste is for slash.

I have nostalgia for those heady days of RPF when we all thought the actors liked each other well enough to shag. What about me? You're in luck! The actors at OEAM still have the special feelings for each other that give you, and in many cases them, warm fuzzies.

So what's with the Grand Opening? New site, new functions, new challenges, new contests and surprises. Check out the Scavenger Hunt here: http://oeam.livejournal.com/334197.html And visit the new site and the OEAM LJ for more information.

So tell your friends, bring your muses, try the new OEAM today. It carries the International Slash Writers seal of approval.

Snowflake Challenge Day 5

Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner

Of course I managed to get behind this week. I lost my internet Tues. all day and got busy yesterday so I'm playing a little catch up here.

Day 5

Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.

If you've already left feedback in the course of a previous challenge, it totally counts. But you're free to leave more feedback.

I left Feedback on Pandemonium's excellent story A Glitter of Swords in which an old friend gets a satisfying ending and Aragorn gets a sword.

Oshun wrote a wonderful story for Yuletide this year based on Last of the Wine by Mary Renault. You can find it and my review here: Perhaps Not Perfect

One of my favorite stories of 2015, the amazing Love Over Gold written by Keiliss. It's like nothing I've ever read.

Day 03

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don't think there's anything I've written that has escaped notice since I tend to post everywhere. Still, here are a few I'm rather proud of:

Flowers in Amber at SWG

I like how Elrond came out in this. I find him a difficult character to pin down but I was satisfied with how I wrote him here.

Years Thicker Than Leaves at AO3

This one has a personal meaning for me.

Voice of Rage and Ruin at SWG

This is the kind of story I always wanted to write. Not the best written but it fulfilled a dream.

And I can't not mention my humor stories, which people seem to enjoy. Here is the one that still makes me smile when I read it:

Dead Reckoning at MPTT

The Gift

Every year my friend Thranduil Oropherion Redux (randy_o on LJ) gifts me an amazing story. This year, as per request, the story involves the modern adventures of Thranduil's court. If you haven't read it already, you really have to check this out. He is the best writer of Thranduil fiction out there and his stories of Elves in the modern world are my particular favorites.

Please give yourself a late Halloween treat by following the link.

that guy has that Elvenking from the movie down perfect!
